
Burundi is a land-locked country in East Africa, with a population of approximately 12 million people. It is one of the smallest countries in Africa and is very poor, with more than 75% of the population living below the extreme poverty level. Burundi is mostly Christian, with 62% Roman Catholic and 25% Protestant. Burundi ranks at 166 out of 190 countries for the ease of doing business, according to the World Bank.
